Running Errands

Aug-28-2009 By nitrousworx

Today was about errands. My wife ran late to her afternoon duty at the hospital because she accompanied me, I had to go to several places after we had lunch. A glass tile broke in our bathroom so she agreed to come with me to look for samples of it and canvass if ever we decide to replace the broken one, too bad she can’t find the same tile like we have so she ended up just accompanying to some errands for work. We had to go to a telephone service center and she was actually pissed of how slow the queuing is. We actually waited for an hour before I talked to the person in charge for 30 minutes. She wasted 1 1/2 hours waiting for me. Anyway, thanks Hon.

Fork Makeover!

Aug-26-2009 By nitrousworx

I sold my old reliable and weight weenie suntour axon fork because I changed my frame from NRS to Marin.  I needed a higher travel fork than my axon, and so this Marzocchi Fork came in.  This is an old school Marzocchi Exr Pro 120mm travel fork.  It has a dual air stanchion with both positive air preload and an aluminum steerer tube which makes it lighter than other exr pros.  Black is the original color of this fork. Since my handle bar and stem are white, I needed to change the color of this exr pro to white to match my color theme, Black/White. I made a DIY with this fork and repainted it to white.

I stripped the paint off with a paint remover called Strip Sol which I bought at around $2 in a hardware store near our house.  I used a paint brush for the paint remover then I had to sand the remaining paints not removed by the strip sol.

After sanding off, I rinsed the fork and let it dry under the sun.  Then I started applying a primer paint so that the base paint will stick to the metal. Had to put around 3 coats of primer.

I applied the base coat (white color) thoroughly with I think 6-7 coats.
I wet sanded some paint irregularities and remove some impurities. Then
applied another coat for it. last but not the least is the Clear coat to protect
the white paint from getting scratch easily.  The finish product of my DIY
fork makeover…

I designed the two decals using Photoshop and downloaded the Marz logo on the web… My new
Marzocchi Exr Pro 120.

Next time I will be very excited not just because of biking but because I have Las Vegas Show Tickets on my hand signaling that indeed I’m already visiting the US for the first time and will be having fun in Vegas!

Dream Wedding

Aug-22-2009 By nitrousworx

A friend asked me about his dream wedding and he told me how he is puzzled to organize destination weddings. How much will it cost and how hard it would be to actually organize one.I have no idea actually except for the fact that one of the nicest destination to have your wedding is at Karisma in Riviera Maya. If I will have to marry my wife again and have the money to actually have another wedding with her, we would have it at Karisma where the concept of all-inclusive luxury has no equal. Imagine a wedding with the ocean as your backdrop. Superb service and great ambiance before, during and after the wedding? Which couple does not like that?

Going Japanese

I am not a fan of Anime. In fact, I never was, I think. But I find this very creative and amusing.

Very creative indeed. Featuring the artwork of illustrators Tony Taka and Carnelian, these keyboards will retail for approximately $100. Expensive if you ask me, but if you are into this stuff then I think this is a brilliant idea. Creativity and art can be anywhere, even your own keyboard!

If I win the lottery…

Aug-22-2009 By nitrousworx

… my wife will have this…

iMac 24 inch.

She is actually planning to give our work station a makeover and she told me that she already talked to her interior designer friend about it. She loves Apple and frankly speaking, I would also love an iMac at home. I think it’s the best computer brand ever. If I win the lottery, we will have the works, the most expensive is actually, $1,199.00!!! Yes, we can’t afford that right now so we are actually saving for a cheaper version and maybe a second hand. We’ll see. Our target is to have on next year.

On Shopping

Aug-22-2009 By nitrousworx

I always mention my wife here. I never really want to post personal stuff online. Well, actually this is not a very personal post so I guess she wouldn’t mind. She has been in a shopping frenzy lately, recently she told me she had another order fulfillment! Funny as it is, I am happy for her. She deserves that. I think money should be saved, don’t get me wrong but it would not hurt if you buy yourself a treat sometimes. She recently fulfilled her dream of collecting nice watches, she has several already and now stopped from buying. She promised me that she will buy another watch next year already, I really don’t care if she buys another one now as long as I know she is saving some, then I guess it’s fine. As for me? Well, she also shops for me. I don’t find fun in shopping but that doesn’t mean that I will never understand her, besides, she supports my biking. Love is give and take huh?! Okay, no more of that girly talk later, I promise to be back with men stuff! haha..

Home Safety

Aug-22-2009 By nitrousworx

We went at my father’s shop yesterday and he is actually renovating the little home attached to the shop. I’m actually surprised of the progress it has made for the past week that I visited the place. The shop is actually located in a congested place and I suggested that he get a home insurance if something happens. I mean, I’m not being so negative but with all the money he is putting in that place, it deserves to be protected and safe. I never actually inherited the desire to be in his business but of course, I’m still concern besides I take so much gratitude to it.

On Work and Abroad Updated

Abroad

My wife’s Aunt had a problem with their furnace at home, she was talking about it on the phone with my wife telling her the story about her husband needing to buy some furnace filters for replacement. Fall is coming up soon and in Illinois, you just have to be ready. That’s why we wanted to go there in summer, where the weather is just similar here, nothing to be fussy about especially that we are bringing our son who is so used to tropical weather. My wife on the other hand experience how it felt like to be living in fall weather and she loves it. I wonder if she will enjoy winter with 3 to 5 feet of ice outside the house. But I would also love to experience winter. Maybe some other time.

Work

My boss is really planning to run for Presidency and with that you can imagine how busy we are at work. I don’t have the extra time to even surf the net. The only time I have for myself is when I have my lunch break. You see in government office here in our country, work is really lax and very easy but now that there are tons to do not to mention the running, work is in bulk and when you say bulk, it’s in capital B-U-L-K!

I wish to bike and bike on my free time so I can release all the stress!

WW: Love under the Lights

Aug-19-2009 By nitrousworx

Join us here.

My wife took this the night we watched the fireworks show in Mall of Asia. Our son’s first time to see fireworks in real life! My wife is so happy to capture such photo, she told me, she captured the moment, how I looked at my son with so much love under those bright lights!

Needed in the Bath

Aug-12-2009 By nitrousworx

My wife showed me tons of photos of shower chairs online. I was surprised that she also got the choices from Allegro Medical. Of course, I chose one that I think will suit our small shower area plus I considered it’s sturdiness and durability. I am just baffled with the array of items that Allegro Medical has to offer. When my wife talked about it before I thought she just relies on it when her profession needs it but with all the choices for the home, it’s like a one stop shop already which is very nice for busy people like us. It even has outdoor items that can also make me happy! Anyway, why a shower chair? We actually need it when we bathe our son who plays in a tubbie that is placed on the floor so we really have to stoop down just to reach him which is really hard so I think getting one is a great idea too.
