AroundMe Rocks

Jul-25-2010 By nitrousworx

I discovered AroundMe through my sister in law who lives in Canada and recently is in our country for a vacation. They used the app in Canada to locate different establishments from restaurants to cafe to stores. So me and my wife tried the app and first the app should locate you and then the app is now on it’s very useful mode.

Like the name applies, it lists all the critical services around you — banks, coffee shops, bars, gas stations, hospitals, movie theaters, restaurants and so on. Using geolocation, the app orders each service by its proximity to you — how many yards away — and, like other apps aimed at the traveler, maps out a route from here to there, if requested. It also creates a contact page for every entry, which you can save to your own contacts list.

Typed in National Bookstore and all the store branches to the nearest from my location popped. Really cool! I love this new app, definitely a must!

My brother in the States is shopping for some techie stuff that he needs for his work and since he doesn’t know much about technology, he asked me to go online so he can consult me with some stuff. A friend who lives there as well advised me to tell my brother to grab some cyberpowerpc coupons so he can avail the great discounts since he is buying so many items. I want a new laptop for myself and I hope he finds one for me as well. Coupons are a lot of help when it comes to saving so much in items that you need to buy but you have a limited budget. Hopefully, he buys the right stuff and he really listened with the advices and tips I gave him.

iPod Dock Lamp

Jul-8-2010 By nitrousworx

I found this at Hammacher Schlemmer. I think this is very cool and saves up your electricity consumption. In our case we charge so many gadgets during the night and this can save so much electricity.

This lamp looks like our lamp at home too. At $199.95, you can get this lamp with a built-in iPod dock and speakers, providing space-saving efficiency for an end table. An iPod or iPhone fits into the dock and plays music through two 10-watt speakers–each with a 10 KHz woofer and 20 KHz tweeter–built into either side of the lamp’s base, providing clear, crisp sound. Four buttons control on/off for the lamp and audio, as well as volume up/down.

I really like this item, I hope we can get this on Christmas. Interested? Purchase it here.

Amazing New Features of iOS 4.0

Jun-24-2010 By nitrousworx

My wife has been bugging me to help her update her iPhone 3Gs software and I was really too tired to teach her but last night after more “please” from her, I did everything while she fell asleep beside our son and just this morning she showed me a few of the nice features of the iOS. These are the nice features that caught my attention…

The Multitasking Feature

Now you can run your favorite third-party apps — and switch between them instantly — without slowing down the performance of the foreground app or draining the battery unnecessarily. (Now this makes me want a new iPhone since it doesn’t work on 3g)

The Folders Feature

Organize apps into folders with drag-and-drop simplicity. Get faster access to your favorites and browse and manage up to 2160 apps. (I think that this is pretty cool for people who have tons of apps and is very OC at the same time)

Belkin Conserve Valet

Jun-18-2010 By nitrousworx

* Charges up to 4 mobile devices at the same time (USB output)
* Replaces up to 4 charging bricks with one simple power cord to free up wall outlets
* Saves energy by automatically turning itself off after devices are charged
* Reduce clutter with a designated charging spot and an innovative cord management system
* Includes 2 cables; USB to mini-USB and USB to micro-USB

The greatest purpose of this that I love is the fact that…

Save Energy, Reduce Clutter
The Belkin Conserve Valet Smart USB Charging Station charges up to four mobile devices at the same time and shuts off automatically, so you can minimize clutter and save energy. This device also allows you to free up wall space–just this one unit replaces up to four charging “bricks” with one power cord. And the easy-to-see LED clearly shows all activity.

New iPhone 4

My personal take on this? I really love the sleek design, it’s more masculine than the 3g, which is why the wife doesn’t like it that much. I want one, maybe I can push this on my birthday? We’ll see. Not in the list of my priorities anyway but the features and the appearance make me want one.

3D Now in Laptops

May-28-2010 By nitrousworx

My friend who told me about www.goodsamers.com, when he had a road emergency early this month was raving about the site and then we got to the point where he mentioned about his 3D laptop which got me off guard. I didn’t know that these things came out already, I was just reading about it last April. High tech huh? Anyway, if given a chance I want one, for games and stuff that my son and I can play with. Here’s the laptop I want right now…

Talk about Techie

I am drooling over a Samsung HDTV. I want to have one in the bedroom and until now, my wife totally disagrees of having a television in the bedroom. She has a problem of putting something like that in our room because we have a toddler that we are minimizing the viewing time at home and with us working 8 hours day with him only under the supervision of his nanny, and his nanny loves watching television so it doesn’t help in convincing my wife to buy an HDTV. I’m thinking of getting this one…

Mount this on the wall then connect it to a desktop, not only do we have a television but we can have a large monitor where we can work online. My wife says too much technology is not good, maybe she’s right but it won’t hurt to have a bit more comfort at home right?

SleepPhones Headphones

May-5-2010 By nitrousworx

I find it uncomfortable sleeping with the headphones inserted in my ears. I sometimes sleep with my iPod on and I listen to the music until I fall to sleep and this invention is definitely cool!

Enter the SleepPhones Headphones from ThinkGeek, where it comes in the form of a soft and cozy headband that you can wear around your head or over your eyes in a manner similar to a sleep mask.

I want one for myself because I sometimes want music in the background but my son needs peace and quiet while sleeping and yes we still co-sleep which is why I love these kinds of inventions.
