Update

Dec-29-2008 By nitrousworx

… regarding our wreck car. Since Holidays are busy and most offices are still on a Holiday, the repair of our car is in halt. It sitting in the car shop still wreck and almost forgotten. This will be on my list of priorities when 2009 comes. After our relaxing week, I’m sure I will be in so much stress calling that stupid driver who is actually not cooperating. My brother in law is suggesting we sue him after our car gets fixed and all the insurance thing gets approved to teach the guy a lesson. It’s all his fault we are in this situation and the least thing he can do is be nice when I talk to him on the phone but no, he prefers to be rude. Anyway, we’ll see. Kasi yung asawa ko, pinapasa-Diyos na lang daw nya eh. If maayos daw yung Mazda, she prefers to sell it, put the money in the bank so it will earn interest while we use her sister’s (who is now based in Canada) Rav4 temporarily. She is bugging me to find our very unique bathroom lighting (since the ones we have are already busted) to take my mind away from the still dilemma since it’s still the Holidays. I just hope things will push through as planned, whatever the plan is. Anyway, for now, I just want to greet everybody a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

3 Days Getaway

The Bellevue Manila (photo grabbed online)

It’s a post 3rd Wedding Anniversary celebration, a gift from my very thoughtful wife. And I must say, I’m excited to spend a very cozy and relaxing stay in a hotel next week. We went to my office this afternoon to fax the GCs that my wife bought to the hotel reservation office to confirm our stay. It’s all set. Aside from the Enchanted Kingdom and Fun Ranch trip, we still don’t know what to do during our 3 days stay there. I will probably treat my wife to a really nice spa session while I watch our son in our room or maybe order us some awesome dessert during the night when my son is asleep. This hotel stay is a really nice idea to unwind. We can do this every year. I hope she could get more hotel GCs in the future.

Weight Gain

Dec-27-2008 By nitrousworx

This Holiday Season is not just about Christ’s birthday but it’s also about food. :) Yeah, I haven’t stop eating since the first days of this month, I’m gaining weight really fast. I need the best fat burner to help me lose some fat. Good thing, it’s been two days that I’ve started biking again. My BIL and I are planning to bike everyday while we’re still on vacation. We even have a race to join so it’s really important that we get enough practice. I just hope I lose enough weight before the new year kicks in.

New Addiction

Dec-27-2008 By nitrousworx

My sister in law who is now based in Canada introduced this new addiction of mine. It’s not a sport…

…it’s Prison Break. Yeah, I’ve been staying up all night just to finish the previous seasons. My brother in law who is also addicted bought CDs. The episodes are truly thrilling. The plot is very well written and each season it becomes more exciting. You can’t stop, you want more after you finish watching an episode, it’s like the anticipation is so high, you want to watch more. The first days I started watching it, I slept at 4 in the morning. I’m currently in Season 3 and I have no plans of stopping!

No Trailing

Dec-23-2008 By nitrousworx

Aside from being sick, it’s Christmas. Trailing would take a back seat but I will definitely go biking after the festivities. We will be checking in at Bellevue for 2 days and 2 nights, in celebration of our 3rd wedding anniversary, we’ll be bringing our son, of course and I asked L. to list an itenerary for us, staying 2 days in our room will be very boring so we need extra activities to do aside from lazing around in a hotel room. Anyway, I’m thinking of Enchanted Kingdom and Fun Ranch since we have Dustin in tow. We will see where will our budget takes us. I’m sure we will have a grand time whatever activities we have in store. So I guess the No Trailing sign for me this week will be okay.

Sick

Dec-23-2008 By nitrousworx

It’s the eve of Christmas tomorrow and I still need to go to work. We still half a day of work to do in the mornign then we can go home and prepare for Christmas. My wife is convincing me not to go anymore since I have a fever (but still blogging because I can’t sleep), she’s telling me I need to rest or else I will be so tired to celebrate Christmas Eve with them. I have no energy to move, have a headache and no appetite, I really don’t need diet pills to lose weight and it’s the Holidays. Talk about wrong timing! hehehe… Anyway, the wife is telling me to stop surfing and blogging and take a rest, I’m still thinking of going to work tomorrow. We’ll see.

A trip to Quiapo

Dec-14-2008 By nitrousworx

I asked my brother-in-law to accompany me to Quiapo to complete the bike of my boss and have it assembled.  He already have a wheelset with 6 inch rotors already, so the remaining would be the frame, fork and gruppo as what they call it (i.e. brakes, crankset, cogs, rd and fd).  We went to Kings bike shop in Quiapo. Jane (store owner?) introduced me to some of her new frames and 09 model forks.  My first budget frame choice would the the Vision Pursuit frame because of its numerous reviews, but I have doubts because it’s called the “Frame ng Bayan” as this could be seen anywhere.  So Jane introduced me to this very nice cheap frame which can compete with the Vision Pursuit, BMC Virus 01 frame.  Jane said it’s a good frame and it’s light also (roughly 1.7kg only) don’t know where this frame originated (Swiss maybe?) but I know BMC is a known brand as they carry expensive bike frames.  She also told me to get the RST Gila white fork which is already a ’09 model.  She didn’t recommend the XCR Suntour fork as this fork is too soft on the road which makes the front bouncy.  She made me compare the XCR and the Gila’s suspension, so the Gila fork won over the 2008 model XCR which I couldn’t recommend for heavy riders. Some of the parts where SLX trigger shifters, Avid brake levers, Deore rd, Acera fd, LX cogset, low rise handle bar and a Shimano crankset. After the assembly, I tested the bike which is pretty good and much lighter than those built bikes sold there. For 15 grand, I think this is a great buy! We started to scout some parts in Quiapo at around 2.30pm and ended the trip at 7pm.

Sample picture of the frame I bought!
